Who Else wants to Fire Their Boss

The Home Based Business Industry is a HUGE and thriving industry and unfortunately, this leads to many failures and horrible experiences. As someone that researches, tries, and tests these opportunities for a living, I have some rock solid advice for you if you’re considering getting involved with this industry.

1. Research Your Possibilities

You don’t have to look long or hard to start looking for home based business opportunities or work from home programs. One of the easiest ways that people get scammed or choose the wrong opportunity is because they do not do their research.

As someone that spends a lot of time, money, and energy reviewing business opportunities and work at home programs for my website, I believe that fully researching the business opportunitiy is an absolute must.

I don’t mean just look it up and make sure they exist. I mean do things like visit review sites like mine, visit forums and ask others about it, write emails or make phone calls to potential business opportunities and ask questions. Rate them on their customer service. Finding others that are involved is a great idea also.

The success or failure of your home based business may ultimately hinge upon your ability to choose the proper opportunity. Most people base this on the potential to make money instead of their interest level, excitement level, and overall knowledge of the business/service.

Only YOU can determine what is best for you. The representative that urges you to get involved with THEIR program may be able to help you but ONLY if you are truly interested in being helped. It will ultimately be up to you and only you if you succeed or fail.

2. Do A Self Examination

It will be important for you to be honest with yourself while trying to decide on which opportunity you want to get involved with. If you know that you aren’t good or don’t enjoy prospecting on the phone, then don’t choose an opportunity that utilizes this as one of its components.

It is WAY too easy to try to re-invent the wheel or go against the grain when it comes to following the advice of those that have had success in an opportunity. If they are going to be telling you to do some phone prospecting and you aren’t doing it, you won’t be successful.

ALL business opportunities use testimonials of those that have had great success. They won’t be using failures to share their stories so always know that those people are “doing it” and that whatever they are doing will be asked of you without exception.

Knowing your weaknesses and failures will pay off big time if you are honest with yourself. Choose a program that you believe in and that you can see yourself doing.

3. Ask Questions

One thing that is common in home based businesses and/or work at home programs is that the newcomers don’t want to ask questions and appear inexperienced or unknowledgeable. The exact opposite SHOULD be going on.

You should be asking questions in the droves! Those above you are there for that and a sure sign of a potential success is one that asks questions. Asking questions signifies a few things:

1. It shows that you are stimulated by the opportunity and that you strive to know the correct answers to overcome objections or present the offer/opportunity to others successfully.

2. It shows that you are being involved and learning. Learning is crucial and more importantly, learning from your mistakes is a must.

3. It shows that don’t believe that you know it all. This is a common problem. Many are involved with programs and claim to be doing great in it but in reality, they are simply not “doing it”. This happens in internet marketing all the time.

So ask questions. Ask questions about the business, the opportunity, the service it provides, fees involved…anything you can think of.

4. Know Your Budget

With any business opportunity, there will be some kind of fee involved. There could be a number of reasons for the fee and the fee itself could be very small or very large. This means that you need to consider this and actually have a budget.

Business opportunities do NOT come on a silver platter. They require work and effort AND money. This is a misconception that needs to be laid out truthfully. We can go back to ask questions….know and understand any and ALL fees.

Some opportunities will have fees to get involved, fees for literature, fees for sales material, fees for online access, etc. You NEED to know and understand all of these things BEFORE you get involved so that you can determine if you can afford to get involved or not.

5. Enjoy The Harvest

95% of those that get involved with home based businesses and opportunities will fail. One of the biggest reasons this holds true is that the person gets involved with the program, doesn’t see immediate results, gets discouraged, and gets out.

At the beginning, you will plant seeds as you start promoting your business’ service/products/opportunity and I recommend that you need to commit to a full year before you bail out. Why?

Farmers plant seeds THIS year and work hard to do so and take risks in the meantime so that they can reap the rewards NEXT year in the harvest. You won’t see results right away. You just need to keep doing it. Keep doing it even if you feel like you’re not making progress.

People don’t lose weight overnight. Those that do lose weight understand that doing this NOW will be beneficial LATER. They stick with it.

I can’t tell you how important this is here. I instruct all of my prospects to stay with it for a year. It will normally take that long to see any great results and if you’re willing to “stick it out” or “stay the course”, you just might be in the 5% success rate!

This industry has created many, many millionaires and has given many the ability to “fire their boss” but not without some trials and tribulations. As mentioned earlier, this is a tricky and very difficult business and requires some serious work and effort to be successful. I believe that most opportunities have the ability to make money but the success or failure rate lies on the person representing or promoting the opportunity/service, NOT the opportunity itself.
